Jan 08, It's definitely hard making profit when starting out, so when you can afford it, buy these three upgrades from a Teladi Equipment Dock and install them in the ship you fly in: Best Buys Locator use key '6' Best Selling Price Locator use key '5' Trading System Extension The TSE is sold at other race equipment docks, but if you have to go to the Teladi sector anyways Again, make sure that these upgrades are only installed on the ship you fly in, your other ships don't need them well, maybe the TSE at some point.

Jan 08, The terminology can be quite confusing to a new player. It can also be purchased and installed on any other ship. On the other hand, the Trading System Extension is primarily for use on your personal ship, and allows you to see prices and quantities at stations where you're not currently docked.
In conjunction with the required Trading System Extension, the Best Buy Locator allows you to find the best price on items in any sector where you have an asset, such as another ship, a station, or a navigation satellite of either variety. It will list all the items for sale in that sector, and the stations where you can find those items with the lowest prices. The Best Selling Price Locator is for finding the best price for any item you have onboard your ship.
If you issue this command from another ship, it will find the best prices for any items onboard that ship. Unfortunately, it does not list the best selling prices for ALL items within a sector, only what's on the ship the command is issued from.
To find the best selling price in a sector of an item that's not contained in your cargo hold, you have to go station to station and check manually.

And the Trade Mk III is strictly for automating an independent trader that flies around independently from your factories, buying and selling much as you would.
